RE: Your favorite room at Capital AudioFest?

I would have to say my favorite rooms were the VPI/KEF room and the DSA, Luminous Audio, Joseph Audio, VPI room. Yesterday i had a shocking encounter with the fidelity in the VPI/KEF room when Lyn Stanley was singing along with parts of the record and I thought at first it was overdubs making the sound even more luch than when she was singing solo. The demonstration with The Beatles In Mono was also outstanding showing off the equipment at its best as well as showing how well the box set was mastered and handled along the entire path to our ears.

Best of show? I would have to say VPI/KEF because of that demonstration with Lyn Stanley in the room when I thought her singing along was part of the recording. You just don't get a better demonstration of fidelity than that. It's one thing to spring something like that on just any old joe, but to fool someone who is used to very good equipment and is specifically in a venue to listen for flaws as well as triumphs is another matter. My hat is off to everyone who provided such a good show this year. It really was the best one yet.
