I've had Incredibly mixed luck with Craig's list.
I listed a Sony SXRD RPTV. It needed a light engine, which is about a 300$ rebuilt part. NOTHING else. I got one guy who would 'send his assistant over' with a 'USPS money order for the price'. BUT, he would be 'out of town in Europe' for 3 weeks so I'd deal with his 'assistant'.
I told him 'cash only' and never heard back. I Did NOT ask how a guy spending time in Europe, not a cheap seat, and having an assistant, would need a TV needing repair. Total cost would have been about 500$, counting acquisition of set. SCAM.
Another guy answered my ad for a Rotel RB-1070, offering 25% ABOVE my ask if only 'I could ship it to him right away for my GFs birthday'. This was also to be paid for by a USPS money order. The phone # listed in the ad? The scam alert I googled even had a very similar note to the one I got.
I have had some good luck, too. Sold a NIB Sony TV. Great deal for both. But, other sales didn't go well, especially when I suggested meeting in the parking lot of ANY local police department.
Best of luck with the typical Craig's List bottom feeder.
Too much is never enough
