on the entire thread. Not sure why no one has responded.

A reply to your point is that, while we can readily concede that massive differences in sound quality - between a lousy 1930s recording and a modern one - would affect the meaning of music communicated to a listener, extrapolating this to a high-end debate (e.g. whether a $10k speaker enhances the meaning communicated to a listener over a $5k speaker) takes the debate into an absurd dimension, reflecting more on the neurosis of the listener than anything else.

Short and snappy: I'm sure that many listeners with crappy $300 consumer CD units get just as much meaning out of their music as AA members.
