The sound will not change much. Leave it plugged in all the time. a power cord will make a difference. Examples of smoother ones are Harmonic Technology (pretty cheap used), Cardas and Audience. But you will get more bang for your buck by changing the outlet. Either the Oyaide GX or FIM copper. Also I would use a HiFi tuning fuse, Supreme, and uprate the current of the fuse a bit.

Yes I have used or do use everything mentioned above. And I have even more woeful stories of "upgrades" gone wrong, yet continue to purchase some items with no audition. Sometimes it is the only option. But I am always holding my breath when I do so...
