Since what i would guess you are after is cleaner, clearer sound,.. You CAN doo that with all sorts of products.
Clinging to some idea that you have to get off the grid is really limiting possible solutions.
Also regenerators are not a 100% solution. like I mentioned they still allow a percentage of distortion through, and it is dependent on the incoming A/C.
So if your A/C really really sucks, well, the regenerator may output a sucky A/C anyway...
