Dan will be missed. It doesn't matter whether you agreed with his ideas or philosophy on equipment design, it was important to question the so-called "authorities" and do what you think is best. Dan did that and designed great equipment that flew in the face of conventional "wisdom". Having someone who has passion and is not afraid to say their piece, is priceless in the audio industry. I am proud to have called him my friend. He was always on a quest for perfection.
I first met Dan after he tracked me down, having bought Martin DeWulf's LNPA 150's. He brought them back to speck after finding out that MD changed the configuration. After that, I obtained his preamp, DAC unit, and cables. All of which I will put up as a system against the best in the industry regardless of price, and know that I will still be in the running at the end of it all. Dan was proud of his design work but in the end it was always about the music.
You will be missed, Dan. I have a feeling that you are now in a place where there is no jitter or distortion... just pure music!
