for the 3bx III

One of several dbx expanders, this was the third of 4 "3bx" models and a very competent one. Having owned a series II and III, I could tell little difference in capability of expansion. The "Impact restoration" adds, well, impact to sudden attacks (transients).

Product Weakness: The impact restoration is fussy and with many programs notably pumps the rest of the program. The "release rate" setting is tricky.
Product Strengths: Among the best of vintage dbx expanders, if you don't count imperfect "impact restoration."
