how old were you when you got into hi-fi/high end

I was 22 when I finally happened to get my first job out of grad school and started building my first "high-end" system. I was 14 when I started to read "Stereo Review" and "Stereophile" while listening to my Realistic speakers hoping for the day to be able to afford what I read about in those magazines.

While in college I moved up to Polk speakers and a JVC receiver. For what it's worth my brother still has the Polk speakers :)

I have since moved up and it seems there is no ceiling in this hobby.
