Somtimes people over here listen to mp3's as well. Nothing wrong with that. However, the vast majority of folks at Head-fi are all over lossless files if possible (in fact the Head-fi computer and portable fourms where lossless is mostly discussed are among the most active boards on the site and not just that site but all sites dealing with digital audio).
Also, most folks are using at least RBCD or SACD if not moving to vinyl. Vinyl has a great following at Head-fi despite the fact that Headphones destroy speakers in terms of resolution, where one would assume pops and clicks would be a deal breaker for most.
The overall population at Head-fi is young no doubt but their vigor for the hobby is probably unparalleled. It is ranked as the most active English speaking audio site according to Alexia (whatever that is worth ;)
