Magic

Thanks on the review. I actually meant to post that to the Cable Asylum and later did, but perhaps more people were able to read it this way. I am sensitive to things that others don't hear. I am quite sensitive to grain, for example, and that attribute distroys any illusion of reality I may have when I'm listening to orchestral or choral music. I notice that this quality isn't really discernible when listening to rock or jazz, unless it's something like massed brass with well-recorded big-band. I'm also sensitive to the way music flows, which is the main reason I tend to MUCH prefer good analog to digital. In any event, I called up PAD to ask about the cable below the Elementa Advance, the Musaeus, and the representative acknowledged that if I'm a classical music listener, I may not be happy with the midrange and bit of grain in the top end that exists with the cable. I'm afraid that I'm discovering that my requirements, in this domain, are expensive.

Regarding "Magic", I wouldn't let the sound quality deter you from buying it, as the music is mostly really good. It's just that the original engineering is really compressed. I'm not sure I can fault Bob Ludwig on this one. I can tell you that the "Live in New York City" 3-LP set is vastly superior to the CD that came out. "Magic" may have been better served by release on 2 discs, I don't know.
