I recently bought a pair of these for $400. Maybe I overpaid, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about - to learn some audio history. I liked them a lot, for what they do. Great little soundstagers. I've got much better speakers, but I still liked their voice and so did my friends. We had a lot of fun with them (I installed them at a friend's place for a lark and left them there). A bit muddy, but way better than most other things out there in the $300 price range today. And hey, cut them some slack, they're as old as me. Are you sure you don't know someone in your friendly circle who wouldn't benefit from living with these for a while? Sometimes a great gift (or extended lend) works out better "true value" than a sale. Just a thought.
