and favorite oxymoron - Liberal, KS.. up US 54.. We used to do high school sports, etc, with Greensburg. I think I got in trouble once on a school trip there. We borrowed the school station wagon from one of the coaches and visited some girls in the other motel. This may have been the trip where we opened some sodas in one of those old syle vertical stack machines where you just needed an opener and a cup to catch the drink in..
Greensburg was famous all over southwest Kansas for that damn 'deepest hand dug well'. We would all have been green with envy about that well if we weren't already 'the pancake hub' AND the home of Dorothy and Oz, but that's a different tornado. A few miles away, Dodge City, our other HS rival, also was famous, because of Gunsmoke. That tornado really screwed up Greensburg. It should serve to get them talking more about climate change.
