Upgrade Question- DVD player or Preamp?

Hi Everyone,
I guess here's another upgrade question to the board. Thinking of either upgrading my Oppo Digital DV970HD for a Marantz DV-7600 or upgrading my Parasound AVC-1800 home theater preamp processor with either a Rotel RSP-976 or 1066 or a Sunfire Theater Grand II or possibly III. Would like to keep the cost below $1000 and my goal is to obtain better sound for 2, 5.1 channel and movies since this is a home theater that doubles for 2 channel. Trying to determine if it really is an upgrade and will either route benefit with my choices. Not looking to change out the other components or connections listed. Currently my system: Parasound AVC-1800 HT preamp, Parasound HCA-1205A power amp, Magnepan IIIa speakers, front and rear, Eminent Technology LFT-12 center channel speaker, Channel Islands VDA-2 DAC and VAC-1 power supply connected to the Oppo, Musical Fidelity X10v3 and Yaqin Tube Buffer both connected between the Parasounds. Synergistic Research connections throughout and Panamax line conditioner. I am leaning towards changing the Parasound just because of the somewhat annoying signal lock delay inherent in it's design.
