Yes Independent inspections work, There are several company's
When i had my amp damaged at krell they would not release it to fedex.
instead they call in a independent inspection service that inspects the item and reports its findings to the claims people.
I have a post up the ladder a bit that show claims filed and paid by fedex. 2 of them, had independent inspections.
