Not keeping up with competition and too many pricehikes...

Linn used to make one of the best turntables in the market, but that was in 1990-1995. What happened? The table saw little improvements and many price hikes but never really increased that much in quality. Now it is too late: There are all the new high mass and low mass tables that offer much improvements over the Linn.

In addition, they completely failed the entry level market: Everytime I earned more and could consider Linn, their prices increased so much I could not afford them. Take their entry level Akito tonearm. It started as a competition for the Rega RB300 at around $250 now the price is quite a bit over a $1000 ??!!!

As for their electronics market: Some good ideas (media server), but too early and too expensive in a fast changing market. The way things are going for Linn they might actually close down.

Personally I think this one will be bad for high end audio - Linn has been a constant for many years. I hope they recover. However, overall I prefer the current state of audio. Lots of small new companies with interesting products and approaches. And most important people that do care about their products, probably similar they way Ivor cared about the LP12 30 eyars ago.

Just a few 2c...
