HI Gus,
I don't have an answer for you. Wish I did. It has been so many years since I faced the problem that I wouldn't know where to look. I learned on my own as a kid. I subscribed to Popular Electronics magazine which got me to an intermediate level. Then later, when I pursued my career in electronics, I became an expert. It's a job requirement. Here are some first thoughts. There are all the usual suspects like Amazon, Google, etc. Also, you could take a course in basic electronics. Reading schematics is a lot like reading a book in foreign language. One might learn how to pronounce the words but if you don't know their meaning you are still lost. Reading a schematic is fundamentally different than reading a road map though there are some superficial similarities.
You need an understanding of basic electronics theory to gain any real meaning. You need to understand basic circuits, have familiarity with the basic circuit components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors, tubes, transformers, etc. And we are not even entering the word of digital electronics which is effectively a different field but still needed in today’s digital age. Without this overall basic knowledge you will still be lost.
I think the way you worded your question indicates a well meaning attitude but also a total lack of a basic appreciation of the complexity of electronics. There is a reason why electronics requires schooling. Reading a road map does not.
I suggest you take a class, perhaps in night school. I would encourage you to go forward. I don’t in any way want to discourage you. Electronics is an amazing technology and extremely useful even at the amateur level.
I wish I could be more help. I don't think there is an easy path to your goal. Maybe others here can offer you better advice.
Good Luck, Sparky
