Are you interested in sound quality?

If so, you want a cable that has a iPod dock on one end and RCA plugs on the other.

The SendStation (the first item I bought to connect my iPod to a headphone amp) connects to the dock, then you are going to plug in a cable with a mini plug on one end and RCAs on the other.

Same for the iPod dock, but now the quality could be further compromised by running it while charging.

Something like what Ken at Audio Line Out makes would pass a high quality signal to your amp. I have one of his cables for an iPod to headphone amp connection. It uses cryo'd Jena wire and sounds fabulous.
