Thanks to everyone for their feedback. To clarify, I definitely realize the role of a "good" guitar amp is to provide the sound a good amp has. I most definitely do NOT have a good map or at least i've really grown sick of it's solid state, nothing great, clean sound. Good input, however, about the amps running hotter in the first stage, i didn't know that.
I would love to have a VOX AC-30 or a nice tube Fender or anything really that adds that warm tone I love, my amp just doesn't provide. But since I need to hear 'something' and since my digitech signal processor that does have at least one tube and some great sounds already has a headphone out, as long as I'm listening through the headphone jack I was wondering if it would be okay to play through my stereo.
Question for Benhen:
You have your PC and guitar both going to a mixer and then you blend the two. Do you then feed the mixer into your stereo? This is what I was originally thinking about doing; using a mixer then going to an amp out to my speakers to serve as both guitar amp and stereo. Then I came here and got my Marantz to serve as stereo. Just curious as to your setup, that's what I thought I'd have to do and wanted to make sure I got a stamp of approval here
