last time I was in Ft Worth at the stockyards with friends we stopped to get a drink and there was a kid sitting in the corner with his guitar playing and singing country.We were on a fairly tight deadline but I stopped and I listened and as much as I can't stand to listen to country music I could not seem to pry myself away.
You don't have to be a lover of classical music to realize that you are hearing something special and you make your own time, even if it's stopping for just 30 seconds. Not everyone in the article was rushing off to work (people standing in line to buy lotto tickets)
Thats the point I think, that people are so absorbed and their vision turned inward that they hardly notice the world and happenings around them anymore, that they don't see (or hear in this case) the beauty in the world even when it's right there 4 ft away.
