IMO, getting the room right is as important as any other component.

Each room is different, so the challenge will be to figure out what type and how much Absorption and / or Diffusion to use. Try walking around your room and clapping your hands near your speakers, hot seat, corners, etc. If you hear a ringing sound after the initial clap, (similar to the echo you hear in an empty, unfurnished room) you got slap-echo and need absorption. Conversely if the sound is kinda dead and muffled you’re over damped and should try diffusion. Room treatments are not very expensive. If you’re into DIY, search for Jon Rischs’ bass traps and wall panels over in the tweaks section.
