No, I would not spend the money on adult diapers.....It depends on the current state of your room acoustics. If you room is not to a certain point, you don't really know what your components actually sound like, do you? You need to get the room in reasonable shape, then you have a better chance of finding components that you like the sound of in any reasonable room.
Of course, if you're planning to live where you are now long-term, it is ok to buy components that compensate for the room's problems.
