I just had my first experience with bass trap 2months ago.
I borrowed 2 ASC tubetraps home and push them right into the 2 front corners as I always see in ASC pictures. I also experimented, as you mentioned, leaving about 4 inches between the traps and the corners, and it improved the soundstaging.What's the explanation that leaving a gap makes the bass traps sound better, I wonder...!
