I'm not sure any power-cord would 'filter grunge' unless some form of filter or power conditioner was incorporated, and thicker power cables don't offer more power as such than supplied cables because the mains circuit is the restricting factor; a separate circuit/spur is what you'd need.I'd say power cords have an influence on equipment due to the different vibration frequencies, RFI rejection and quality of the contact with the equipment.
