Post Etiquette

HI All,
I'm relatively new to internet forums (1 year). Quite often I see posters apologizing for long posts. Yet, it seems to me that many times the long posts are the most valuable.

So, what is the etiquette for posting? Is there sensitivity to long posts? Obviously, posts, long or short, that meander or don't hit the point are not desirable. But good posts, long or short, seem to me very desirable.

BTW, I hate long posts that have no paragraph breaks. When written this way longs posts are certainly difficult to read. Many times I don't bother. Why do people do this? When properly written, a long post can be a joy to read.

I would appreciate your input.

Thanks, Sparky
