Are you plugging the headphones directly into the computer audio output? This will result in greatly different sound quality from computer to computer, as the amplification will vary and the design of the circuit will effect noise levels in the analog output.A computer is really only useful as a transport to an outboard DAC and amplifier, and only should be evaluated as such.
