People like this give skilled craftsman, entrepeneurs, and small businessmen a bad name. If Best Buy or Sony or some high-end dealer treated you this way, you'd probably sue them, or at least trash them here. You should not feel obligated to protect this person's reputation. It seems that you have been far too lenient with him, and given him more than a fair opportunity to perform. The guy is either a bullshit artist or a doufuss, and you should definitely call him out by name, here and elsewhere. This person does not deserve to succeed with his own business, no matter how good his product is. He should go to work for someone else who knows how to properly schedule and manage their affairs, and how to deal with paying customers. He probably drives his suppliers and creditors just as crazy as he's making you.Send him a letter, not an e-mail and not a phone call, stating that you will contact Visa in 10 days in order to file a formal complaint and ask for a full refund. You can also tell him you're going to file a complaint with the federal government internet fraud bureau (FCC? I can't remember what branch, but there is one, and it's quite easy to file a complaint.). I bet you'll have your stuff in less than 10 days.
I hope you finally end up with the product you paid for. I won't lecture you about the lesson you've probably learned the hard way.
Peace,
Tom E
