Nice article. Thanks for sharing that. I DO think that musicians hear things differently than non musicians. I'm constantly pointing things out to people who don't play an intrument, but can hear what I hear clearly after I point it out to them. They don't hear it unless it's pointed out to them though. The Joni Mitchell "Blue" album is a good example of this. I heard upon first listen that the engineer used different mics on her voice from track to track. On the other hand, Michael Fremmer just reviewed this album and did not hear the different mics, even on his mega buck system. The mics used are different, confirmed to me by Steve Hoffman who remastered the "Blue" album Fremmer was reviewing. It's plain as day.......just gotta listen for it. Anyone with that album give it a listen and just listen to the voice texture and quality.....nothing else. Very easy to hear if pointed out to you, but not so easy if not pointed out to you, yeah? Sometimes it's a pleasant gift, most times folks just want to argue about what I hear. I believe it's just what part of the brain your using in your day to day life.
