I use a relatively efficient Monster Power conditioner ($350 I believe), but make sure what your plugging the conditioner into is also top notch. I have been noted here to notice a huge improvement by changing the wall outlet with a hospital grade one (PS Audio in my example). And as far as I have found, the power conditioner makes a huge improvement, I use it on both the digital source components and the amplifier/preamp. It's like saying the music "jumps" out more at you from a quieter background. Sure it's hard to hear silence, but I have found better "texture" of the sounds with the conditioner / outlet combo. Also make sure your Power Cords are also up to par.
I recommend using a power conditioner.
