The first is the international standardized Octave Band center frequencies - Most RTA analyzers use these so it makes sense to use the same frequencies for EQ. There are a similar set of frequencies for 1/3 Octave centerfrequencies 16, 20, 31, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160...

The second is an EQ that might be better for room correction the lower bands fo bass, and the highest three for driver diffraction components or just to add zing to a recording. The middle three would be used as midrange presence tone controls. You might see the latter one in a studio control room. These days you'd more commonly use a parametric eq.
