In short, the BBE counteracts the back EMF (electromagnetic force) that the speakers send BACKWARDS to the amplifier.Most people think it is a one- way street from the amp to the speakers, but in reality the true signal is "running into" the back EMF. It is really a two-way street. How strong the "reverse" traffic flow is, so to speak, is dependent on the speakers, so you have to use the adjustment knob to get it right.
BBE corrects this by sending the reverse wave, canceling out the traffic muddying the signal from the amp to the loudspeakers.
