Stick LP's under your gear if you go with MDF shelving

Your price range is similar to mine. A really great tweak for gear on less than optimal surfaces is setting empty LP covers, or maybe even a single sheet of cardboard, on top of the shelf and under your gear.

This is for gear with stock rubber feet on them, or any other stock footing.

a few LP covers and my Lovan Classic rack sounds absolutely incredible. this tweak releases the soundstage, makes it a bit wider and fills in some holes...no more phantom center channel, etc.

this is a form of isolation.
