I have a method which I recommend to patients and have had good results. Get some Neosynephrine nose drops (not spray). Lay on your back on your bed with your head hanging over the edge, with the top of your head pointing at the floor. Put 2 drops in one nostril. Close the other nostril with your finger and sniff. You should taste the drops in the back of your throat, which is approximately where the eustachian tube opening is. Stay in this position for a couple minutes, then repeat in the other side. The nose drops shrink the tissue in the area where they contact and this often opens the eustachian tube. There are little or no side effects.
