No need for that because so long as DVD is 'good enough' for the public they won't spend more money on another format unless it has obvious advantages in user friendliness and functions which Blu-Ray doesn't.If CD quality was suddenly reduced to 12 bits for instance I doubt anyone would notice except those of us with separates systems, and most CDs are hopelessly EQ'd and compressed anyway so CD could be much better.
The truth is, the most successful format launches have been CD, DVD and MP3 because every one provided obvious improvements over it's predecesor in convenience.
