Go for it Ole!

Now's your chance to get rich! Make a high-end Blu-ray player!

Let's see now...

For a regular DVD player, the required licenses (DVD Forum, MPEG-2, Macrovision, Dolby, DTS, HDMI, et cetera, et cetera) is about $150,000 up front with $50,000 per year renewals. Plus another 10% of the wholesale price of the player to the patent holders.

So I can only imagine how much the licensing for Blu-ray will be. After all, in another year or two the Chinese companies will be undercutting the Japanese majors, just like they did with DVD. So the only chance of getting a revenue stream is with royalties.

Just think about the possibilities! You could invest a quarter-million dollars or so up-front to build high-end Blu-ray player based on a Funai mechanism. I'm sure it would have great picture quality. And wonderful build quality, with a fine metal transport. And repair parts should be no problem to get at all.

Don't hesitate! Get in now before it's too late! Be the first on your block to build a high-end Blu-ray player! (And just hope that the format catches on...)
