Hello Abe,As far as downloads go I prefer to sample some unfamiliar artists in this manner to decide if I might like to add them in my library or not, its been helpful in this manner. But when it comes to purchasing music for quality listening I still prefer purchasing my CDs or LPs new and burning copies off the computer.
With that being said some artists like Bill Frisells website Songline-Tonefield productions has some entire album downloads available through MP3, or my preferred method, FLAC files for a nominal fee. The quality of this is no different than purchasing the disc at borders IMO, whenever a artist offers music in this manner I have taken full advantage of it, I might add in I use Mobile Fidelity 24 Karat Gold Ultradiscs, they apparently burn cleaner.
I have toyed around with I tunes but still prefer purchasing, I guess its part of my generation with cover-art and all, music giant is interesting though.
Regards,
