"There are only two component specifications that are important. What are the dimensions so you'll know if it fits on your shelf. And how much does it weigh so you'll know if the shelf is strong enough to hold it."
And while many might not agree with me, I believe a carefully selected and preserved/reconditioned system from that era could stand up to most of the best of today.
