Whatever conditioner I have used, connecting the amplifier through it seems to restrict dynamics and shrink the soundstage. At first it sounds more precise and cleaner but very quickly you realize that it sounds less like music. Note that the only ones I have used cost $600 or less.For what it's worth, I am quite happy with my Furman PST-8 digital. It really warmed up the top end of the digital stuff.
