It depends on several factors.

If you think about it, a room that's "perfect" for one type of speaker may be awful for another. Likewise, size will depend on amp power and how loud you play music. I've read in numerous places that room dimensions should not be even multiples of one another, to reduce standing wave reinforcement. Some people believe that proportions of roughly 5:8:13 work well -- e.g. a room 10 ft high, 16 ft wide and 26 ft long. As others have noted, anti-reflective treatments (sound absorbers) can have a greater effect than room dimensions.
