This will get you started.

Some specific recordings:

Stan Getz and Charlie Bird "Jazz Samba"

Bill Evans "The Tokyo Concert" "Explorations" "Interplay"

Cannonball Adderly and Milt Jackson "Things are Getting Better" "Nippon Soul", "Know What I Mean" or "Somethin' Else"

Art Pepper "Smack Up"

Miles Davis "Kind of Blue"

Dave Brubeck "Time Out" "Time In" or "Buried Treasures Live in Mexico City 1968"

Stan Getz and Chick Corea on Verve 1967 double album also with Bill Evans

Chet Baker "Chet" or "Chet Baker in Paris"

Nat Adderly "Work Song"

Sonny Rollins "Saxophone Colossus" or "Way Out West"

Ray Brown "Soular Energy"

Oscar Peterson "Night Train"

Maybe you should think about Classical a bit as well.

Some easy starters:

Beethoven's 3rd Symphony "Eroica"
Schubert's "Great" symphony
Schubert "Trout" Quintet
Beethoven "Kreutzer" Sonata
Mozart "Jupiter" Symphony
Mozart Violin Concertos number 3 and 5
Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto number 1
Just about any Mozart quartet
Schubert "Death and the Maiden" quartet (one of my favorite)
Tchaikovsky 4th symphony

Try labels like EMI and Decca. Deutsche Grammophone is ok with great performances but only so so recordings.
