This might be the way products become "classics": I have noticed in some reviews in mags and opinions on the net that not every new model is received with enthusiasm. Case in point: seems that Bryston 7B STs are still regarded as better sounding amps than the newer 7B SSTs.Many things can explain this aside from the reality of the thing, since we are, after all, dealing in perception of a pretty subjective kind.
So what are other products that have the star quality needed so that, even in the presence of a newer model, that, at least in the manufacturer's mind is superior, is believed to be better than its replacement?
P.S. It may be nostalgia but I keep looking at older Krell amps and they look so much the part that I can't help thinking they sound better than the newer models.
