How far out on that limb to you want to go?

Here's a few questions for you, Wellfed. I could of course be wrong/ignorant, but AFAIK the answer to all of them is no. If you have any "yes" answers please enlighten us.

Does Hitachi manufacture and sell blank cd's "treated" in the manner referred to in the PF article?

Have you seen/heard any statements from Hitachi indicating they will (soon, or in the near future) be manufacturing/selling cd's which are "treated" in the manner the PF article discusses?

Does Hitachi own/operate a pressing plant for commercial pre-recorded cd's? If so, are they employing this "treatment" at their plant(s)?

Has any pressing plant not owned/operated by Hitachi employed this cd "treatment"?

Are you aware of any label putting out "treated" cd's, including Denon (which I believe is owned by Hitachi)?

Have you seen mention of this anywhere other than this one PF issue?

On 2/17/05 I asked Kait why the "creators" of the IC were marketing their great discovery -- the IC -- to a tiny group of audiophiles through tiny Machina Dynamica rather than pursuing mass market through a large cd manufacturing company or large recording labels. Here's his reply:

"quick answer: the chip has been demonstrated to leaders in mass production of commercial digital discs. I was present last month for demo of the Intel Chip to the head of mastering at JVC. I feel quite confident (100% actually) the company whose brainchild this chip is has not overlooked your excellent point."

To date, two years later, no major player has chosen to buy/lease/use the IC. Hey, as an independent musician who releases my own cd's I'd certainly welcome any improvement in digital sound, but perhaps you ought to be more cautious before accdepting the PF article as anything more than unsupported conjecture.
