At the IEEE show in 1967 while I was still a student, I asked one vendor why EVERY display using a TV monitor used a Sony Trinatron (he was exhibiting a color television camera which mounted on a microscope, a novelty in those days.) And his explanation was quite convincing. BTW, every try to adjust the convergence on a three gun tv set. You not only see how badly it can go out of adjustement easily and how awful it looks with even a minor convergence error, you get to appreciate what a primitive idea it is compared to the one gun Trinatron tube. Every TV set I ever bought from then on was a Trinatron. I am no great fan of Sony Corporation either having been endlessly exasperated with their customer service departments. You really are a dyed in the wool Luddite.
