We know that digital sound is made up of a great many discrete bits, analogue sound of a continuous wave.

And when you apply the reconstruction filter to the output of a digital system (which filters out frequencies above 1/2 the sampling or resampling frequency, you also get a continuous wave, i.e. "analogue."

Now, that's not to say that it will necessarily be completely accurate and there's plenty enough to debate on that count, but it is just as "analogue" as anything output from a phono cartridge.
