Re: Objectively what is the most accurate to the disc system - Engineers!!

Hi,

Simple answer.

MEG RL901K active studio monitor is the mathematically most accurate speaker known to me, matched only by the Meyer Sound X-1 (also active).

As the speakers are active the only other item is a linestage, the mathematically most perfect is the Music First Audio Passive Magnetic Preamplifier.

Sadly this system busts wide open your budget (sorry).

Something that might go most of the way would be a Mackie HR824 active monitor or the Behringer TRUTH B2031A active monitor with any inexpensive passive linestage.

If you wanted a bit less "mathematical perfection" and some more knobs to play with try the Behringer TUBE ULTRAGAIN T1953 as preamp, a Behringer Ultracurve DEQ2496 digital Equaliser as room/speaker corrcection system (plus DAC, Expander, Soundstage adjustment and halve a million other things) and the Behringer Truth B2031A as Speakers.

That setup would set you back around $ US 1,100 official retail, you may find that discounts can be had.

You may also find that set up correctly such a system can challenge many of the expensive but "brand image" (rather than true performance) focused supposed High End systems, though next to true high performance audio systems it would be well out of it's depth and hence it's not a system I personally would part in my living room.

Still, I wish some of the on-line audio reviews or print mag's would get such a system up and running and working fine, just for the fun to see how far such a setup can really go.... ;-)

Ciao T
