Question concerning tinny mike sound

Hi!
My friend recorded a friend's concert using an Olympus recorder, but the microphone picked up a fuzzy tinny noise with all of the songs. I am extremely new to audio editing, and just have Audacity. What effect would reduce this? Normalize? Experimenting makes it sound too weird every time. Or does anyone have a better free software recommendation?
