Tired old comparison

In an audio system you get miles of "crap wire", starting with the wire used in the power grid between power station and your house, your house wiring up to the wall sockets...
Ever used a water filter? That last foot can have a profound effect.

While AC power is quite different, the miles and miles argument totally misses the point. The power grid is just fine. The villains to combat are located in your house, often times only inches or feet away as RFI produced by numerous devices. As for outlets, there are units that offer better contact and power transfer.

...the different transformers and inductors in the components, coil wire in phono cartridges, the speakers' voice coil wire etc.
Which is why the better components don't use junk wire and the like. While my electrostats don't have voice coils, they do have high quality toroidal transformers, Vishay resistors, Jensen caps, etc.
