When our first child got to crawling, she started clawing at the bass drivers of my speakers. I made grills for them from solid sheets of 3/4" plywood with driver holes cut into them to match the driver size and location - almost a mirror of the speaker baffle itself. You need a lot of strength and determination to poke the cloth 1 or 1 1/2 inches to touch a tweeter or 2 or 3 inches to touch the bass driver. The grills are held by strips of velcro so when the children are in bed I can take them off. Funny thing is, I was worried about ruining imaging and the sound by adding these big heavy grills with quite small driver holes in them - but I can't hear any difference - neither can anyone else. I still take them off at night :~)
Cheers,
John K

- Great idea! Sure beats a solid sheet of plastic in this case. (nt) - AbeCollins 18:46:52 11/01/04 (0)
