Did a bit of digging to figure out what all those markings on the Eupen cable mean. The markings on the cable are:
EUPEN RU E137991 AWM STYLE 20740 2x1mm2 +1x1mm2 [ICC COLOURS] VW-1 GNLM 05 VDE-REG .NR. 11359372
EUPEN is well, the company name. :)
RU (a backward R which is made part of the U) is Underwriters Laboratory's symbol for a UL recognized component, a component being something which isn't a complete product in itself but is used as a component in a complete product.
E137991 is Eupen's UL registration number, which can be looked up on UL's website.
AWM stands for Appliance Wiring Material.
STYLE 20740 is one of two wire styles covered under Eupen's E137991 registration. A RichText document can be viewed by following the links when you look up Eupen's registratoin number at UL's website.
2x1mm2 +1x1mm2 means the cable is made using two 1.2mm conductors for hot and neutral and one 1.2mm conductor for ground.
[ICC COLOURS] means that the color coding of the internal wire insulation is that of the International Color Code, which has brown for hot, blue for neutral and green with yellow stripe for ground.
VW-1 means that it passes UL's vertical flame test VW-1.
GNLM is Eupen's designation for their ferrite coated mains cable.
05 is, well, dunno. Haven't figured that out. :)
VDE-REG .NR. 11359372 is Eupen's VDE registration number, VDE is rather the German equivalent of UL. I wasn't able to find any means of looking up Eupen's registration on VDE's website.
So there you have it. 10 out of 11 ain't bad. :)
