Well....

Frankly, I don't see where there's any conspiracy or hoodwinking of the customer.

I was in book publishing for years--specialty publishing where a print run might be a couple thousand or less (compared to mass market with tens or hundreds of thousands). A book that we bought from the printer for $2 would sell for at least $20--sometimes a lot more. It depended on how many we had him make and how special the content of the book was. To stay in business we figured our base markup was at least 10 times our costs. Now, we were buying a standard product--ink on paper--that anyone else could buy, but the printer was not saying "Someone's making a lot of money off my book," or bemoaning the "crazy pricing" of specialty publishing because he was in a business of selling his printing sevice, not the specialty content of our book. Eupen's in the business of selling wire and cord to a mass market, not the "specialty content" of JPS's products. I find Herr Heinrichs' comment either naive, laugable, or mean spirited--or all three.
