I have never been impressed by a company which touts the conductor material alone.. Look at Nordost, they spec the capacitance, inductance. Look at HarmonicTech..the same..See how some small businesses like Chris Venhaus, Empirical Audio are open about their design goals..Look at Zu cable, see how they push their cable geometry...even though they have their alloy conductor as well(still I think, they are too focussed on reducing only the inductance) By comparing all these companies you know which one is made on sound engineering and which one is pure marketing. There are also some good people like Jon Risch who are doing a service to the audiophile community by sharing their knowledge without any monetary benefits.
People following specialised hobbies or pushing the limits in their hobbies should get into the technical details a little bit, as they should not fritter away their money easily. Unless, they are following their hobby just for bragging rights..
